Getting back into the studio
After returning home from my wonderful time in Mildura and the exhibition at The Art Vault, and after completing all the admin I had to do for the BASĀ and other obligations (if you know what that’s about I’m sure you’ll sympathise!) for my partners business I felt I was then ‘free’ to paint in the studio. Delightful and delicious. Though the painting took quite a ‘conversation’ and ended up with so many layers! I think the process is evident in the resultant work. And benefits from it. After many days ‘conversation’ I had with the painting I realised in fact it was completed. It was a long conversation. I also decided that the white edges of the painting distract when the painting is viewed. The eyes are drawn to the stark white edge, so I painted the edges a colour used in the painting. Think this allows better concentration on the painting itself. Works for me. But there’ll always be someone who will think otherwise. And that’s OK!
